Acrovyn Wall Covering Sheet Thicknesses

Acrovyn wall covering is available in multiple thicknesses: .040" (1.02mm) and .060" (1.52mm), and .075” (1.905mm) for solid color wall coverings. The right choice depends on your application. Both are field-cuttable and can be installed over a range of surfaces.

Select solid color .040” and .060” is e available for online ordering (products ship in 2 business days) and can be cut to your desired length in the field.

Standard Sheet Sizes

Standard Acrovyn sheet sizes are 4' x 8' and 4' x 10'.

Textured Sheets

Acrovyn wall covering is available in several solid color textures (such as Suede, Irish Linen, Beadboard, and much more). Wall covering is also available in woodgrain microtextures. One important note for project planning: textured sheet is 43" (1.1m) wide, not the standard 48" (1.2m). Explore all options here.

Radius Applications

Acrovyn wall covering can be used on radius wall conditions, but differs by thickness:
  • .040" (1.02mm) sheet: minimum radius of 9" (228.6mm) up to 19" (482.6mm). Must be pre-formed prior to shipping.
  • .060" (1.52mm) sheet: radiuses up to 24" (609.6mm); must be pre-formed prior to shipping. Radii beyond 24" for .060" material can be formed in the field.

*Standard and aluminum trims should not be bent around a radius.

Wall coverings in hospitals and healthcare facilities must meet specific fire, code, and environmental standards.

  • UL Class A/1 — Surface Burning Acrovyn wall covering carries a UL Class A/1 surface burning classification, tested in accordance with UL723, ASTM E84, and CAN/ULCS102.2. This is the highest classification available and exceeds the minimum Class C/3 requirement mandated by the governing building codes including IBC, NFPA, UBC, BOCA, and SBCCI. Every piece of labeled Acrovyn is part of the UL Follow-Up Program, providing ongoing compliance assurance.
  • VOC and Indoor Air Quality Compliance For healthcare projects subject to California requirements or pursuing LEED for Healthcare credits: Acrovyn products tested in compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.1-2010 are available. CS's specified adhesives comply with SCAQMD Rule 1168. VOC Emission Test Certificates are available on the CS website for specific models.
  • LEED v4 Credits Acrovyn wall coverings contribute to LEED v4 Building Product Disclosure and Optimization — Material Ingredients credits:
    • Option 1 (Material Ingredient Reporting, 1 point): Acrovyn products certified under Version 3.1 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard at Silver or Gold meet the credit requirements.
    • Option 2 (Material Ingredient Optimization, 1 point): Silver-certified products are valued at 100% of cost; Gold-certified products are valued at 150% of cost toward the 25% threshold.
  • Living Building Challenge Acrovyn products certified under Version 3.1 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard with a Material Health Score of Silver or higher are likely to comply with the LBC Red List, as they are inventoried to at least 100ppm using an assessment protocol similar to the Red List.

Acrovyn wall covering is available in a variety of solid colors and woodgrain-simulated patterns — giving architects and interior designers flexibility to meet a facility's aesthetic standards without sacrificing protection performance.

For healthcare environments where design plays an active role in patient experience, Acrovyn by Design® extends those options further. Custom imagery — wayfinding graphics, nature scenes, abstract patterns, branded photography — can be printed behind clear Acrovyn rigid sheet and installed as standard wall covering. Thermoformed outside corners are available for Acrovyn by Design, allowing imagery to continue around corner conditions without interruption.

Use CS Adhesives (roll-on adhesive available for faster application)

Acrovyn wall covering requires CS' own Acrovyn Interiors Heavy Duty Water-Based Mastic Adhesive. Using a different adhesive voids both the fire rating and the product warranty. The adhesive system is integral to how Acrovyn performs in its rated applications.

Shop roll-on adhesive here.

What's Included with a Sheet Order

Each wall covering order ships with a 1/8" V-notch trowel, CS Acrovyn Interiors Heavy Duty Water-Based Mastic Adhesive, and primer (where required, with coverage of approximately 350–400 sq ft per gallon).

Roll-on adhesive is available as well.

When primer is required, any water-based primer without PVA (polyvinyl acetate) can be used. It does not need to be CS-branded primer.

Compatible Wall Surfaces

Acrovyn wall covering can be installed over flat surfaces including ceramic tile, concrete block, painted drywall, and vinyl-clad drywall.

It can also be installed over existing wallpaper or vinyl wall covering, provided the entire surface is first inspected for loose areas, any loose sections are removed and repaired, and the surface is cleaned with mild detergent and fully dried before installation. We strongly recommend performing a test area to confirm adhesion before proceeding — adhesive testing responsibility lies with the on-site contractor.

Cutting

Acrovyn can be cut using electric shears, a spiral saw, or a utility knife. When using a utility knife, multiple passes will be required to cut through fully.

Trim Options

Available trim options for wall covering installations include Acrovyn trim, aluminum trim, color-matched or clear caulk, corner guards, and formed Acrovyn. Aluminum trims are standard in clear anodized finish and can be color-match painted for an additional charge. Acrovyn trim is available in colors that coordinate with sheet colors.

For wainscot applications: adhesive should be applied above the top edge of the wall covering so the horizontal wainscot trim fastens directly to the wall. For vertical and other horizontal trims, a 1" (25.4mm) gap should be maintained between sheets, so trims adhere directly to the wall. Brad nails should never penetrate through the wall covering, as this traps the sheet and prevents the expansion and contraction necessary for a successful installation.

When it comes to maintenance, Acrovyn wall coverings for hospitals and healthcare facilities are designed to be easy to clean — a practical advantage in healthcare environments where surfaces are cleaned frequently and with a range of hospital-grade products.

Because it resists bacterial and fungal growth by material property rather than chemical additives, the maintenance protocol is straightforward: regular cleaning per CS's Acrovyn Wall Protection Systems Care & Maintenance Instructions.

Yes. CS offers thermoformed outside corners specifically so that Acrovyn by Design imagery can continue around a corner condition without interruption. This makes it a practical option for branded corridors, wayfinding applications, or immersive environmental graphics in hospital or healthcare settings.
The minimum radius depends on sheet thickness. The .040" (1.02mm) sheet has a minimum radius of 9" (228.6mm) and can radius up to 19" (482.6mm); it must be pre-formed prior to shipping. The .060" (1.52mm) sheet can radius up to 24" (609.6mm) and requires pre-forming; radii beyond 24" for .060" material can be formed in the field. Standard and aluminum trims should not be bent around a radius, as this can cause kinking.
